Making the longest chain
Walt:
- Write a recount
- Integrate maths and writing
On monday morning we made a paper chain using red and green paper. We did this because we were learning about estimating. My partner was Ifa. We used A5 paper to make this chain.
Firstly we estimated how long our chain would be. My estimation was 179 cm. Ifa’s estimated that the chain would be 140 cm. We both had a discussion about the width and length so we went with Ifa’s plan.
Next we cut the red and green paper into strips. We tried to cut the strips even but it turned out to be crooked .When we started to look at our chain we could tell that the red strips were smaller than the green strips. After we cut them we joined it with sellotape.
Thereafter we measured our chain with a one metre ruler. Our chain was more than one metre so we grabbed the ruler again. Our chain was 192 centimeters but if we were to pull our chain I think that we would of got to 2m.
Finally we compared the measurement with our estimation. It turned out the I was the closest to getting the answer right. Then we compared our chains with the other students and we were around the middle. The person that made the longest chain was Viliami he made it to 3m and 83 centimeters.
If we were to cut the strips into skinner pieces it would of been longer and if we used the width instead of the length it might of been longer.

I think that everyone's chain was different because all of the students cut it differently. Dion and Ben made the smallest chain because they cut the width thicker instead of thinner and their measurement was 86 centimetres . Viliami and Howard made the longest chain that was 383 centimetres. To do that they had to cut the strips thin and then that would’ve made them have more strips instead of less. The mean of this table was 229.3 cm, the Median was 200 cm, the Mode was 192 cm, and the range was 297 cm.

E-asttle reading
Today I done a E-asttle reading test. We had thirteen minutes in each of the stages that we started. I had to set the 3-4 test because I am in the tuis. After I finished the test I started to feel nervous because I didn't want to get a low score for reading. I felt proud of my score because it was my first time getting a 4p. Next time I want to get a 4A.

Maths E-asttle
In this E-asttle test I got a 3A. I feel proud of my score because I thought that I would’ve got a 3p but I guess that I had luck. This E-asttle test made me think hard because I started to forget how to do it and the strategies to work out the answers. Next I want to get a 4B.

Reflection, Rotation, Translation
Walt: Revise transformation
Today we revisited how to do reflection, Rotate, and translation. I had to play this translation game online. At first I thought it was hard but then I went asking around how to do it. It took me a couple of minutes to know how to play the game. After I found out how to play the game it started to get interesting because of the shapes became harder to find how to do it. Next I would like to try and get a higher score than level 5.

Pie chart
Yesterday I done a pie chart. Everyone got to choose what animal they would like to be. We collected the data by show of hands. As you can see on my pie chart that most of the children would be a dog and then rabbit would be the second most choices.

Double bar graph
Walt:Use online tools to draw a double bar graph
Boys watched Boys not watched Girls watched Girls not watched
10 3 5 7
Today we made a double bar graph using an online tool but before we done that we had to collect the data off the children. We collected this data by children putting their hand up if they watched it and if they did not watch it. We used this data to make a double bar graph using an online tool. The blue indicates the people who did not watch and the black indicates who has watched it. I also think that more boys watched this game because it is a manly game and because the kick off was early in the morning.

Prototec
Today I was on prototec. It took me four minutes and forty two seconds to complete. In this the challenge part was the fractions and percentages because I had to think hard how to turn a fraction into a percentage and how to turn a percentage into a fraction. Next time I want to finish this test faster.

All blacks vs Wallabies
In the finals I think that the All blacks will win against the Wallabies. This game will be very tight this year. I predict that the score will be 17-38 to All blacks. 6 tries and 4 conversions and 2 missed conversion is what I am going to predict for the final game this Sunday. Also I think that Julian Savea will be the player of the day and get one of the best tries again like the match against france.

Perimeter
In this game we have to know how to do perimeter. I had 9 questions to fill out and I got it all right. I got it all right because I always practice over and over until I get it right. Next time I want to get harder questions so I can train my head.

All blacks vs Argentina
Good work All Blacks on winning the game against Argentina. I thought it wasn't your best game but you pulled thru and won the match against Argentina. At first I thought you weren't going to win but you started to regain your energy in the second half. All blacks win by ten points 26/16. Keep up the good work All Blacks.

E-asttle maths
Walt:Study my e-asttle maths
In my last e-asttle test in term 2 I got a 3A. On my e-asttle test I am just above my national standard. I just need to work hard to get a better score so I can progress in maths. I just need to get a 4P then my score will go higher. I think that I am doing good because I am a year 7 and I got a 4B. I have to work hard if I want to get a 4P.

Deci-Mat
First picture: 1 whole is divided into tenths
second picture: 1 whole is divided into hundredths
Third: 1 whole is divided into thousandths
This is a game that we played this week it was quite easy to play the game. We had to roll a dice to see what it lands on. In the first picture I coloured in four tenths red because the dice rolled on four and the fraction dice rolled on one tenths so I coloured in four tenths red. In the second picture they rolled two hundredths so I coloured in two hundredths blue. This game was easy to play because their was not much rules on how to play the game. Next I want to learn more about Deci-mats.

Prototec Stage 7
Today I was practicing on prototec. I got 100 percent on the game because I have gotten all of my questions right. This was challenging for me because I had to practice a few times. I think that this game is suitable for students that all know there fractions and multiplication. Next I want to learn how to do more fractions in different ways.

It was all a dream
Walt:Write a personal narrative from a picture
“Wait!” “Wait! there’s an abundance of apples on that tree” shouted Jack “They are looking magnificent, we should stop and have a small lunch.” They smelled outstanding, looked succulent, they must have had a beautiful flavour. “Mmm! That was the most crunchiest, juiciest apple I've ever tasted! It is like a witch could have casted a spell on that tree!”
“Jack Jack I shouted trying to tell him to slow down.” Jack heard me and stopped immediately. He yelled “What is the matter with you?” I said “I'm feeling a bit sick.” Jack stopped and looked at me, he could see my face going pale my eyes going bloodshot red, he knew I was not feeling okay.
Unexpectedly a worm popped out of my apple “Ewww!” I shouted in fear. Then suddenly Jack vanished in the air I panic thinking what could have caused that. I'm scared don't know what is happening around me, could it just be the worm mixing up my mind with bad thoughts?
I then felt someone tapping on my shoulder shaking my head all around. I open my eyes to see what is happening, then I just realise that I was still at the apple tree. I ask Jack “What happen to me?” Jack says “you fell into deep sleep because you ate too much apples” I say “Ohhh it was all a dream thank god.” Lets go home now Jack.
Never eat a lot of apples at once.

The 2 gods
Walt:Write an impactful introduction to our Maori myth
“Look!” “Look!” shouted Haumia, “There's a steep hole in the middle of the path.”
The hole was so big it could fit a whole elephant inside of it. Tumatauenga did not hear and stumbled into the whole and bursted up into flames. He started to tramp on over to Mission Bay.
On the way to Mission Bay Tumatauenga started to pick up soda cans, lolly wrappers and a lot of tiny rocks. He put everything inside of his bag so when he arrives at Mission Bay he can throw all of it inside of the water.
When Tumatauenga arrived at Mission Bay he started to throw soda cans, lollies wrappers into the sea, with 1,000 tiny stones. Tangaroa got furious and flew out of the sea. Tangaroa face turned red his hair all started to point up in the sky. He summoned his sea creatures to come up and frighten away Tumatauenga. Tumatauenga got scared and said that he was sorry.
Tumatauenga calmed down and picked up all of the soda cans, lolly wrappers in the sea and told Tangaroa that he will never throw rubbish in the sea again. On the way home Tumatauenga patched up the steep hole in the ground and made sure no one else fell in.

Add and Subtract fractions
Today I learnt how to add and subtract in fractions. This game taught me how to simplify and add and subtract all in one game.I beat all of the other racers and I only got one answer wrong. I think that i could improve on getting none wrong and I would have had a better score and faster time. This game was easy for me because I practiced and practiced and then I finally came first. I think that this game is suitable for year 6's. Next I want to learn more on how to do it.

Ratio blaster
Today we were learning how to do ratio and proportion this game was about what is equal to the number. For example 1 to 3 is 2 to 6 because it doubles or you can half it but to do this you should know your multiplication or halvings. This game was easy for me because I know how to do both of the strategies. Next I want to learn my order operation better.

Ratio
Today in class we were learning how to do ratio I couldn't really understand how to do it until Mr Beel taught me how to do it properly and I understood it. For example If A:B =6:3 What is B if A is 6? The answer would be 3 because 6 x 1 = 6 then 3 x 1 is 3 so the answer has to be 3. This activity was easy to do because I know how to do my multiplication in maths and understand all of it. Next I want to learn how to do more examples like this.

Muffin ratio
Yesterday we baked yogurt muffins. We had to bake the yogurt muffins so we can understand the concept of ratio. Ratio is when you compare two things together and turn it into the simplest form. I am going to compare sugar and yogurt together the sugar weighed 100 Grams and the yogurt weighs 100 Grams each. To do this I need to turn it into the simplest form which is 1 to 1. So in 1 yogurt pot is 100 grams of sugar and in the other sugar pot is 100 grams of yogurt that means it is 1/1.

Fizzing and Foaming
Walt:Write a science report
Today we were going to investigate what will be the reaction if we were going to mix diet coke and mentos mint lollies together.
When five mentos pellets were slotted into the diet coke there was still one mentos on top of the lid. When the mentos was on top of the coke lid it reacted violently and spun around in a circle was the coke foam was split out of the bottle.
Explanation
In mentos there are holes which are called pores. That is why when you mix diet coke and mentos together you get a new substance that is formed. And gas is released that is really fizz and bubbles. Inside the fizz and bubbles is carbon dioxide that keeps on trying to escape until it erupts out of the bottle.

I remember perimeter being used when I am measuring the whole distance around something like a square. I remember area being used is when you measure the length or width of a shape in square unit or square meters. I have a good understanding of doing perimeter and area and it was easy. I have got 2 smiley faces in studyladder and it proves that I am good at perimeters and area.
