The growing of maize in New Zealand

According to Yen, the first year maize was introduced to New Zealand was in 1769 when captain Cook arrived. So then we can infer that the early european explorers were the people that had brought maize to New Zealand and that it was grown in 1772.

New Zealand has the right climate for growing maize because when it is September it stays hot until February which are the warmer months. maize also requires tropical climate and the soil temperature has to be between 16.c to 35..

Maize was shared by boiling it, Roasting it and trading for different varieties of vegetables or fruits. The trading's worked by giving maize and in return the other person gives carrots. That is how they would share their vegetables and fruits with each other.

The uses of maize can be used as breakfast cereals to eat and Popcorn. Also you can make starch products such as corn starch and other stuff. The last thing it is used for is to make baked goods.
