On monday morning we made a paper chain using red and green paper. We did this because we were learning about estimating. My partner was Ifa. We used A5 paper to make this chain.

Firstly we estimated how long our chain would be. My estimation was 179 cm. Ifa’s estimated that the chain would be 140 cm. We both had a discussion about the width and length so we went with Ifa’s plan.

Next we cut the red and green paper into strips. We tried to cut the strips even but it turned out to be crooked .When we started to look at our chain we could tell that the red strips were smaller than the green strips. After we cut them we joined it with sellotape.

Thereafter we measured our chain with a one metre ruler. Our chain was more than one metre so we grabbed the ruler again. Our chain was 192 centimeters but if we were to pull our chain I think that we would of got to 2m.

Finally we compared the measurement with our estimation. It turned out the I was the closest to getting the answer right. Then we compared our chains with the other students and we were around the middle. The person that made the longest chain was Viliami he made it to  3m and 83 centimeters.

If we were to cut the strips into skinner pieces it would of been longer and if we used the width instead of the length it might of been longer.
